Wen Wu, looking for the Beauty

Wen Wu is a painter based in London interested in beauty and the Spanish Baroque painter Diego Velázquez. She started painting the female beauty whilst the oil western paitings was on her mind and brush. Quirky Beauty, 2007 reflects a series of women posing almost nacked, is a study of the infinit bodie's contour. With Woman in mind, 2008 the woman's hair style from the 18th century is a delicate mix of colours that brings memories of a time long gone.

Recently, he is fascinated in creating a new world through the eyes of her alter ego; a timeless, middle aged gay man. Her first work Gaymade and Eagle 2008, is a combination of canvases with an unsual shapes whith male figures laying down as if they were female. In her latest works StoryBorad Series 2010 and Decadent Dynasty 2010 Wen is interested in describing the ambiguos atmosphere in modern China, such as Dong Dan park in Beijing, a place where gay men meets. Also she is inspired by the Chinese novel Dream of Red Chamber and her passion for films.
